Activities

The Cohorts and Consortia conference is located in an area that is renowned for its year-round activities. We would like to provide each attendee with an opportunity to experience why people travel from all around the world to visit this remarkable town.

On Thursday June 18th there is a four-hour break from 12 noon to 4:00pm in which attendees can participate in one of the following two activities. Registration and payment for these activities will take place during the conference, however if you are interested in participating in either activity please select your preference on the registration form.

Gondola Ride

The Banff Gondola features an eight minute gondola ride that takes the passengers to the upper gondola terminal.  Located in this terminal are roof top observational view decks, the Summit Ridge interpretive boardwalk, restaurant options and a gift shop. The 1 km-long elevated skywalk leads visitors along Sulphur Mountain’s summit ridge to the Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site of Canada, and the historic Sanson’s Peak Meteorological Station. This activity is a great way for visitors to relax and enjoy the outdoors.  The cost for this activity is $23.00 Canadian. Registration and payment can be made at the Conference Registration desk before 10:30am on June 18th, 2009 and will be subject to weather conditions. Only cash payments will be accepted.

Tunnel Mountain Hike

The hike is located on an old but well maintained trail that is ideal for visitors. Along the trail visitors will witness a panoramic view from the top of the town site. This hike is 4.3 km (2.7 miles) and the level of difficulty is easy. Banff wilderness has a lot to offer and this hike is a great way to experience the mountain atmosphere. The activity has no cost but registration will take place at the Conference Registration desk before 10:30am on June 18th, 2009 and will be subject to weather conditions.
