Poster Abstract Submission

Deadline extended to May 18, 2009!

Submission deadline: may 18, 2009, 11:59pm Mountain Daylight Time (North America)

Abstracts submitted should reflect original work that has not been previously published or presented. Authors accept sole responsibility for their statements in their abstracts. Once submitted, abstracts will only be edited under exceptional circumstances.

Abstract submission must comply with the following structure guidelines to be considered:

  • Abstract Title (in bold)
  • Authors and author affiliations (surnames followed by initials). Student or post-doctoral fellow presenter should be underlined.
  • Content under the following headings when possible: Background, Objective(s), Study Design, Results, Conclusions.
  • Abstracts presenting innovative methods need not adhere to the headings format in its entirety.
  • Tables, diagrams and figures may be included only if they support the abstract content. Graphs, diagrams and tables must be embedded into the abstract text and not linked or as a separate file. Abstracts should not exceed one page including tables, diagrams or graphs.
  • Maximum 250 words (excluding title, authorship, tables and diagrams).
  • Font must be 12 point Times New Roman, pages should have 1 inch margins on top, bottom, left and right sides. All abstract content, including title, authorship, abstract body and any tables, diagrams or graphs must be contained within these margins.
  • Microsoft Word or plain text format only

Submissions should be emailed to cohortsandconsortia@cancerboard.ab.ca with the abstract as an attachment. Abstracts must be received by May 18, 2009, 11:59pm Mountain Daylight Time in order to be considered.

**Students submitting a poster abstract must have one of their thesis supervisor, committee chair, graduate program director or department head email a statement indicating that you are currently a full-time graduate student or post-doctoral fellow, including the student’s abstract title and the student’s full name to cohortsandconsortia@cancerboard.ab.ca. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure this documentation is submitted by May 18, 2009. Failure to adhere to this deadline may result in registration cancellation according to the guidelines outlined in the Refund Policy.

**Students or post-doctoral fellows submitting a poster abstract should consider applying for the Scholars-in-training Travel Award.

Selection

Selection of abstracts for poster sessions will be based on the novelty, quality, and significance of the abstract to the topic of the conference, and potential contribution to cohort, consortia or biorepository research. Abstracts will be subject to blinded peer-review; not all abstracts submitted will be accepted for a poster session.

Notification

Acceptance of abstracts will be sent via email by May 22, 2009.  Please note that if your abstract is selected for a poster session, you must accept/decline and register to attend the conference by June 1, 2009. Failure to adhere to this deadline may result in registration cancellation according to the guidelines outlined in the Refund Policy.
