Scholar-in-Training Travel Awards
Application Deadline: May 18, 2009, 11:59pm Mountain Daylight Time
Eligibility
- Full-time graduate students and post-doctoral fellows
- Must have an abstract accepted for the poster session at the Cohorts and Consortia 2009 conference
- Must be the first author and presenter
- May be traveling within Canada or from abroad
Application
Eligible persons who wish to be considered for a travel award should include, in addition to the attached abstract, the following in the abstract submission email (cohortsandconsortia@cancerboard.ab.ca):
- “Scholar in Training Travel Award” in the subject line
- Title of abstract submitted
- A paragraph stating why you wish to attend the Cohorts and Consortia 2009 conference and how it will benefit your training (250 words max.)
In addition, applicants must have one of their thesis supervisor, committee chair, graduate program director or department head email a statement indicating that you are currently a full-time graduate student or post-doctoral fellow, including the student’s abstract title and the student’s full name to cohortsandconsortia@cancerboard.ab.ca. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all requirements are met by the May 18, 2009 deadline.
Selection
These competitive awards will be based on the novelty, quality, significance of the abstract to the conference topic, and potential contribution to cohort, consortia or biorepository research.
Please note, not all students and trainees whose abstracts are accepted for the poster session will be awarded a travel award.
Notification
Notification of awards will be sent via email by May 22, 2009. Please note that if you receive an award, you must accept/decline and register to attend the conference by June 1, 2009. Failure to adhere to this deadline may result in registration cancellation according to the guidelines outlined in the Refund Policy.
